Save Jake

The above picture is of my dog Jake. He is a 9 year old black labrador. He was recently diagnosed with Grade III Soft Tissue Sarcoma. This is a form of cancer for any of you unfamiliar with the disease name. The origin of this illness is of course unknown. A couple of years ago, he developed some cysts. The veterinarian checked them out and said they were just "fatty cysts". Well some time went by and more cysts developed, and once again we were told, they were just "fatty cysts", nothing to worry about. Well just recently, 2 of the existing cysts became HUGE. We took Jake in to the vets, and they recommended having them removed. The vets removed a total of 7 cysts, 2 of them were found to be cancerous. One of the cysts was one that had been there since the beginning.

Since the surgery, and the discovery of the cancer, Jake has been on three medications:
Interferon. Cytotec, and Piroxicam.

The first one, Interferon, costs $300.00 every 3 weeks. It is given as an oral liquid, 1ml a day. The other two meds are pills given daily. Then he has to go back to the vet after each batch of the Interferon is finished. Each visit is to make sure the cancerous areas have not metastisized into other regions of the body. In the case of this particular cancer, the first organ to be attacked would be the Lungs. So with each visit there are Lung x-rays($$$).
I only have so much money to cover these costs.
It is sad that the entire medical community, human and animal as well, takes advantage of our desire to survive, or to have our family or pets survive. The illness Jake has, is treatable, but within a few more months of paying the costs of the meds, I will be broke and unable to help him. I cannot imagine having to just let him die, just because my job doesn't pay enough.

If any of you reading this would like to help me help Jake beat this dreaded illness, please donate. All I ask is that you give a dollar. If you want to donate more, please do so. If I had something to offer in return, I would gladly do so. I will surely keep records of anyone who does donate, and at some point in the future, I will think of some way to return the favor.
